All of the ''extensions'' listed below really go by the full name of '''parameter extension'''. First good sign for such an extension program is the filename being like '''e.filename'''. Parameter extensions come with a start address of '''$0a00''' and can therefore be rather easily detected. Many of them will work up to a certain point even without cartridge when starting them with ''sys $0a00''/''sys 2560''. More details can be found on [[extension programming]]. | |||
The actual files to load into your freezer using the ''Parameter'' option of the ''Replay freezer'' are listed below. You will have to enter the filename including the ''e'' and ''dot'' prefix and the extension will get loaded and executed. Future implementations will stick to this principle even though the actual ''parameter'' part of this option is long gone. | |||
Yes, any ''Action Replay'' freezer equipped with the parameters option is able to load the ''p<three-digit-number>'' files which are found on the ''parameter disk'' sold by Datel (see below aswell ) to make the targetted game copyable using the freezer. | |||
Nowadays it's all or nothing. Who would care for newly created true parameter files anyhow? :) | |||
The actual '''binary data''' to all these entries can be found at the very end of this list (yeah, maybe read some words while scrolling) and of course on the ''Action_Replay_all'' package on the [[:Category:Action_Replay|main category]]. | |||
If you have a missing extension hidden on some disk or find there is something missing here, please contact us! | If you have a missing extension hidden on some disk or find there is something missing here, please contact us! | ||
Finally, let us start with the only Datel creation coming as extension to continue alphabetically. | |||

'''kb/TOM''' wrote this even though there are no credits found anywhere. We used this parallel cabling solution to transfer from Amiga (and later from PC) and it was a stable and fast way to also crossdevelop. On AmigaOS one was able to just ''copy'' some filename.prg to the ''par:'' device and the c64 was happily receiving. PCs of the late 90s required some special software and we are not quite sure wether that solution would work on more modern machines. | |||

''Ram Load+Save'' must be the best known extension next to ''Scene Stealer''. It allows to save all of the RAM in one piece or to save RAM below ''$0800'' which is not possible on original ''Action Replay'' (and clones) monitors. These usually save zeropage and screen pages up to ''$0800'' not of the frozen computer memory but of the current freezer environment. New ROMs of course should fix this behaviour rendering this extension useless. ''Ram Load+Save'' however is a perfect example of how to properly program an extension. | |||

== Replay RAM using programs == | |||
There are few programs actually utilising the RAM of ''Action Replay'' and compatible hardware. Even fewer of them properly check the availability of the additional RAM. Last not least nearly all these programs are related to packing/crunching and the staff believes in crosspacking using modern programs and platforms. :) --- Yet we honor them here as they deserve it. | |||
Please pay special attention to the '''compatibility''' of these programs as they are not as compatible as the extensions listed above. | |||

Parameter Extensions for Replay based Freezers
General usage
All of the extensions listed below really go by the full name of parameter extension. First good sign for such an extension program is the filename being like e.filename. Parameter extensions come with a start address of $0a00 and can therefore be rather easily detected. Many of them will work up to a certain point even without cartridge when starting them with sys $0a00/sys 2560. More details can be found on extension programming.
The actual files to load into your freezer using the Parameter option of the Replay freezer are listed below. You will have to enter the filename including the e and dot prefix and the extension will get loaded and executed. Future implementations will stick to this principle even though the actual parameter part of this option is long gone.
Yes, any Action Replay freezer equipped with the parameters option is able to load the p<three-digit-number> files which are found on the parameter disk sold by Datel (see below aswell ) to make the targetted game copyable using the freezer.
Nowadays it's all or nothing. Who would care for newly created true parameter files anyhow? :)
The actual binary data to all these entries can be found at the very end of this list (yeah, maybe read some words while scrolling) and of course on the Action_Replay_all package on the main category.
If you have a missing extension hidden on some disk or find there is something missing here, please contact us!
Finally, let us start with the only Datel creation coming as extension to continue alphabetically.
Extensions
Scene Stealer
Name | Scene Stealer | |
---|---|---|
Author | Datel | |
Year | 1988 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay v5 and v6 only | |
Known as | e.ss e.scene stealer | |
Note | Scene Stealer was delivered with the Action Replay Graphics Disk and is able to save graphic screens and charsets to disk as executable program. The supplied demo maker is able to load the stolen scenes and charsets and save it with additional modifications. The Scene Stealer extension could be fixed to work with Replay based extensions but requires some more attention for this to work out as it not only utilises some obscure table for managing the IO switching but also directly jumps into the cartridge ROM for a filename requester ($8057, $9018 - yieks). No nice programming here and it seems that Scene Stealer might have been assembled in parallel to the Action Replay ROM to share variables and tables. |
Action RMS v2.0, v1.0
Name | Action RMS v2.0 and v1.0 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Moog | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.arms v2.0 e.arms v1.0 | |
Note | Action RMS searches the memory for music player patterns and displays start address and identified music routine. It does NOT save the music! :) |
Bitmap-Saver

---|---|---|
Author | TSD/Anubis | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.bitmap-saver | |
Note | Saveland on the CyberpunX Replay freezer handles the same task. The current freeze state is not taken as a preset when starting the extension. Setting options on the menu, testing them and changing them back in the menu is quite unintuitive as well. |
Bmp Saver v0.1
Name | Bmp Saver v0.1 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Reiter/Apidya | |
Year | 1998 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.bmp saver | |
Note | Saveland on the CyberpunX Replay freezer handles the same task. The current freeze state is not taken as a preset when starting the extension. Setting options on the menu, testing them and changing them back in the menu is quite unintuitive as well. |
Byte Searcher
Name | Byte Searcher | |
---|---|---|
Author | TSD/Axelerate/Anubis | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |

Known as | e.fnt edit v2 e.font edit 1.1 | |
CSDb | #14304 | |
Note | Font Editor v2.0 is definately one of the best extensions for Replay based devices. Has all the important options, can edit all the fonts and is relatively bug free. |
Graphicsaver v1.0
Name | Graphicsaver v1.0 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Yap/Albion | |

Known as | e.graphicsaver | |
CSDb | #76381 | |
Note | Saveland on the CyberpunX Replay freezer handles the same task. Graphicsaver can save screen, charset and color data as well as bitmap graphics. The required information is properly gathered from the freezer. |

Known as | e.jap v2.0 e.jap v0 | |

Note | Just A Packer v2.0 deserves a closer look. Well implemented. |
Number Converter (and preview)
Name | Number Converter | |
---|---|---|
Author | TSD/Axelerate/Anubis | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.num convert e.number conv. | |
Note | The purpose of the extension is quite unknown. Usually people get along just fine with the monitor command N. |
Parload
Name | Parload | |
---|---|---|
Author | kb/TOM | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.par1 e.par2 | |
Note | Requires a PData cable and an Amiga (or the PC software which we did not find back (yet))! Instructions for the cable and the original PData package by The Sharks are included on the package of course. kb/TOM wrote this even though there are no credits found anywhere. We used this parallel cabling solution to transfer from Amiga (and later from PC) and it was a stable and fast way to also crossdevelop. On AmigaOS one was able to just copy some filename.prg to the par: device and the c64 was happily receiving. PCs of the late 90s required some special software and we are not quite sure wether that solution would work on more modern machines. |
Player v0.3
Name | (Action Replay) Player v0.3 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Trash/[V] | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.arp-v0.3 | |
Note | An extremely unstable extension which cannot be started twice properly. Keys to use are RETURN, PLUS, MINUS, UP, DOWN, F-KEYS and the most important one: RESTORE to leave the program. |
Ram Load+Save v1.0
Name | Ram Load+Save v1.0 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Wander/X-Rated | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.ram load+save e.ram l+s | |
Note | Saveland on the CyberpunX Replay freezer handles the same task. Ram Load+Save must be the best known extension next to Scene Stealer. It allows to save all of the RAM in one piece or to save RAM below $0800 which is not possible on original Action Replay (and clones) monitors. These usually save zeropage and screen pages up to $0800 not of the frozen computer memory but of the current freezer environment. New ROMs of course should fix this behaviour rendering this extension useless. Ram Load+Save however is a perfect example of how to properly program an extension. |
Sample Player & Saver
Name | Sample Player & Saver | |
---|---|---|
Author | Reiter/Apidya | |
Year | 2001 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.new4sid8sid e.new4sid4covox | |
Note | These are different versions of a sample ripper destined for new and old sid as well as a device named covox which appears to be a sampler for digitizing sound. |
Screen & Font Saver v0.1
Name | Screen & Font Saver v0.1 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Reiter/Apidya | |
Year | 1998 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.scr&fnt saver | |
Note | Saveland on the CyberpunX Replay freezer handles the same task. Similar to Bitmap-Saver this extension also does not fetch default values for the currently frozen state from the freezer memory. |
Sprite Editor v1.8, v1.1, '99
Name | Sprite Editor v1.8, v1.1, '99 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Morris/Agony | |
Year | 1994 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.spr edit v1.8 e.spr.edit 1.1 | |
CSDb | #14303 | |
Note | Sprite Editor v1.8 is definately one of the best extensions for Replay based devices. It has all the important options, can edit all sprites and is relatively bug free. |
60k Memory Swap
Name | 60k Memory Swap | |
---|---|---|
Author | TSD/Anubis and <?> | |
Year | 1999-07-17 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power, Retro Replay, 1541 Ultimate | |
Known as | e.+60k<>freezer and e.+60k<>ram | |
Note | A +60k RAM Expansion is required in the C64 to operate these extensions. The archive contains some more programs for this specific RAM expansion. |
Replay RAM using programs
There are few programs actually utilising the RAM of Action Replay and compatible hardware. Even fewer of them properly check the availability of the additional RAM. Last not least nearly all these programs are related to packing/crunching and the staff believes in crosspacking using modern programs and platforms. :) --- Yet we honor them here as they deserve it.
Please pay special attention to the compatibility of these programs as they are not as compatible as the extensions listed above.

---|---|---|
Author | Lynchbit/Lepsi De | |
Year | 199? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power | |
CSDb | Missing? | |
Note | Awesomeness at it's best! Lynchbit really pushed Turbo Assembler to new limits with his collections. The added Action Replay RAM menu is an excellent plus! |
Elysium Cruel v2.9+
Name | Elysium Cruel v2.9+ | |
---|---|---|
Author | Hain/Elysium | |
Year | 1993 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power | |
CSDb | #32682 | |
Note | This version allows to pack several files at once, but is restricted to $0801 as start address (doh!). Unfixed currently. |
The Packer v2
Name | The Packer v2 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Morris/Agony | |
Year | 1994 | |
Compatibility | Action Replay v4 only! - v4.0_5.0 best | |
CSDb | #2898 | |
Note | The Packer v2 directly uses ROM routines and even avoids the standard jump table here rendering it incompatible to many Action Replay and Nordic Power ROM versions. No fixing planned (yet). |

Name | VIP v3.2 | |
---|---|---|
Author | Kulfon/Medium Moonchild/Hitmen | |
Year | ???? | |
Compatibility | Action Replay, Nordic Power | |
CSDb | #3379 | |
